Five and a half days to the eclipse

The night between August 15 and 16.

The narrowing Moon has taken another stride toward its meeting with the Sun – actually two, because I ran out of time to do this yesterday.

You can see that the Moon’s path has been sagging south of the ecliptic, so that it occulted Aldebaran (for the Atlantic seaboard) on Aug. 16 at 7 Universal Time.  Now the Moon  slants up toward its crossing of that magic line, on which the Sun travels all the time.

  1. yeah,,,, but who’s counting??… My phone and email lihes are clogged with messages about this; plans in the making, who’s going to be where and how they’re getting there, From coast to coast, this’ll be the talk of the town for a long, long time, whether we hit or miss. Keep flexible and mobile. The only two times I bummed out were under the direction of tour guides who had predetermined times and locations for the event, but more about that later, and deepest heartfeilt best wishes for all those chasing this one. For those not chasing it, it will be live streamed on many cable channels on TV and I’m sure many websites as well.,, 108 hrs away,,, but who’s counting…
