Astronomical Calendar 2026

Breaking news: Astronomical Calendar 2026 is launched.

If the cover picture gives you a bit of the frisson you would feel if you were in a house haunted by ghosts, it’s because you are.

The spectators are living in 2025.

The protagonists are in 1040, the year when Macbeth, supposedly encouraged by the prophesies of the three witches, supposedly murdered king Duncan and seized the throne. (Historically, he ws attacked by Duncan, after whose death in the battle he was acclaimed as king without opposition. No “charm of powerful trouble” needed.).

The actors playing these roles are living in some past or future performance of “the Scotch play” (as superstitious souls call it). I had to imagine them, since our only chance to get into the famous theatre was when a lesser play was being performed.

And the stars you can see through the open dome? They are as they were in 1599, the year when the company of actors that included Shakespeare built this observatory-like theatre.

  1. We have used your Astronomical Calendar for decades to create our own calendar based on where the signs really are in relation to the sun. It is devastating for us to think of not having it after this next year.

Is there anything close to what you have been doing that you can recommend, when we get ready to set up our 2027 calendar? We’re just now putting together the 2026 one from your ‘last’ Astronomical Calendar. We cherish it. .

Your work has been enlightening to us and to so many people around the world. I hope that you are doing well, and please take care of yourself.

In gratitude, and great Goodwill and hope for the future,
    marti cockrell,

    1. Thanks for your kind woords! I will continue some of the information, though not in the gorm of a book. This blog will let you know.

  2. 2026 downloaded – thank you! The last Astronomical Calendar?! Nooooooo! :O
However, I realize it is one heck of an annual project and when it’s time to not do it anymore…it’s time. I greatly appreciate the work and detail you have put into the calendar over the years. I will miss it!
