Venus is exaggerated 150 times in size, to show its crescent shape. The arrow through it shows its movement (against the starry background) from 2 days earlier to 2 days later. The Moon is exaggerated 4 times in size.
The antapex of Earth’s way (marked with my red steering-wheel symbol) is the direction away from which we are traveling at this time in our orbit. You can see that the Moon appeared near that position when it was at first quarter on Aug. 20 about 3 Universal Time, crossing outward over Earth’s orbit behind us.

I can’t wait for our spate of cloudy weather to end so I can get a picture of Venus in the evening as you show with this diagram. We traveled to Spain to see the eclipse, and although we did see it from a location along the Mediterranean coast north of Valencia, the afternoon / evening weather in Spain was cloudy every day, so the only good view I had of Venus while in Spain was during totality! Did you view the eclipse from England or did you travel to be in the path of totality?
